Born Louis Charles, Duke of Normandy, Louis Charles (Louis XVII) was the son of Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette.   When his father was executed in 1793, during the middle-period of the French Revolution, he became the nominal King of France and Navarre in the eyes of the royalists. However, since France was by then a republic, and Louis Charles was imprisoned, he was never officially king, nor did he rule. He died at the age of 10.
