BOXED SET OF NAPOLEON MEDALS

ANDRIEU, Bertrand: France, ca.1815, Wooden Box, 27x35 cm
Two custom fitted trays in a 27x35 cm wooden box constructed like a gilt-edged book. One of the trays contain eight medals, the other two large medals. The spine is decorated with eagles and is inscribed:  NAPOLEON MEDALS.

This set of medals, encased in a false book, was made for the British market after the fall of Napoleon.

The set includes the following medals:

NAPOLEON, EMPEROR
NAPOLEON, EMPEROR AND KING
JOSEPHINE, EMPRESS AND QUEEN
MARIE LOUISE, IMPERATRICE

MARRIAGE OF THE EMPEROR NAPOLEON TO MARIE LOUISE IN PARIS


The two large medals in the right tray have a different patina from those in the left tray and are clearly from a different set.  (ex. Dr. Margrave)
