Maria Beatrice di Savoia, Principessa di Savoia, was born in 1792 in Turin, Italy. She was the daughter of Vittorio Emanuele I di Savoia, King of Sardinia, and Maria Theresia Erzherzögin von Österreich-Este. She married Franz IV Erzherzog von Österreich-Este (Francesco IV, Duke of Modena), son of Ferdinand Karl Erzherzog von Österreich and Maria Beatrice d'Este, Duchess of Modena, in 1812 in Cagliari, Sardinia, Italy. She died in 1840 at the age of 47 in Cattajo. The medal commemorates her early death.
